Department of Accounting & Finance


The department of Commerce is the largest department of the college in terms of number of teachers and students. There are 5 full time teachers, 1 guest teacher and the Teacher-in-Charge of our college is also a teacher of this department. The department runs B.Com Honours in Accounting and Finance and the B.Com General course. Most of the teachers of the department are Ph.D. holders and are professionally qualified.

They are regularly engaged in various academic activities. The teachers of the department are engaged in various kind of academic activities, for example doing and supervising Ph.D. research work, conducting research projects , participating and presenting research papers in national and international seminars, examining answer papers of the university examinations, participating in syllabus restructuring workshop. The students are kept updated on the recent developments in their courses and their prospects in the job market.

The department, with proper guidelines set by the college authority runs its activities in a systematic manner. On the very first day of the commencement of first year classes a detailed programme of activities to be performed in the current academic session (20-point program) is communicated to the students so that they can take preparations in advance prepared for a particular academic exercise.

The basic objective of the department is to impart quality education which will enable our students to find proper opportunity for jobs and make them responsible citizens of the future.

In order to implement the above objectives different activities are carried out by the Department of Commerce :

1.Arrangement of special tutorial classes before normal class hours.

2.Holding of periodical class tests

3.Periodic review of students attendance in the class and in different college programmes, are delicately looked into before they are finally allowed to write their University examinations.

4.Showing examined answer scripts of college tests to students to enable them to plug their loopholes before the varsity examinations.

5.Arrangement of guardians meetings at regular intervals and cordial interaction with guardians regarding performance of students.

6.Use of modern devices like LCD Projector, Smart Board along with the conventional "chalk and talk" method of class room teaching.

7.Facility of well-equipped computer lab.

8.Publication of wall magazine – NNC.WALLMAG.COM by departmental students.

9.Publication of departmental journal – “THE BENCHMARK”

10.Running of two job oriented courses along with B.Com Honours and General Courses, UGC – sponsored course on, Insurance Management and Certificate Course on Computerized Accounting, Taxation and Project Management. In these job oriented courses special training is given to enable the students to satisfy the demand of modern employers. Development of communication skill, personality traits are given special emphasis in these unique courses run by our department.
